Our story began in the Summer of 2010 when our two founders, Silicon Valley moms with young kids, met in an elementary school in Saratoga while our kids attended summer school. We were frustrated with the lack of a single news source on technology, cybersecurity and internet products for families of Digital Natives.
With individuals and very young children connecting frequently with each other online, we felt there was a missing link in today’s social media: a secure, private network for immediate family members to interact and collaborate safely with each other. Further problems we observed were Inbox and Outbox overload for family communication from all places serving families and this gave us the idea to start MiFam.
We subsequently started our research, conducting surveys with individuals in our community. Responses were very positive and confirmed the need for a catch-all family email and private, secure, and effective family network featuring communication, collaboration, and a joint family calendar.
